Sunlight from her eyes
She took her from their slums
to the doctor’s door
she said my girl’s been healthy
‘till a week before
but now she’s feeling very ill
and we really hope you will
be so kind to help her
oh, can you help her?
He said don’t you cry girl,
we’re all children of the lord
so we gotta help each other
and ‘though you can’t afford it
I will see what I can do
and this I promise you
I will help her, yeah, I will help her
Oh mother can’t you hear
a hundred children’s cries
can’t you see it
in the doctor’s eyes
your girl will never be the same
he’ll take the sunlight from her eyes
Now two days have past
she comes to bring her home
but the doctor’ disappeared,
her girl is all alone
her eyes are filled with blood
they’re crying out to god
oh, can you help her?
So people open up your eyes,
‘cause you’re the ones who can
keep this story in your minds
or it will happen all again
